What are Biometric Systems?

To increase the chance of an accurate identification, the template size for an identification reader is approximately 6 times that for a verification reader. This increase in size, together with the increased numbers of templates being checked against, is the reason for the limitation on employee numbers when using a reader for verification.Personal data security : the reader never stores an actual fingerprint, instead it holds an algorithm - a mathematical representation - of the fingerprint, which is used to confirm employee identity. It is impossible to recreate a fingerprint from an algorithm, thereby ensuring total employee security.
